Morning Prayer Rule
Morning prayers are read upon rising, facing east.
Note: In the Serbian Orthodox Church, these prayers are traditionally read in Church Slavonic (the Serbian recension). The text below is the standard English Orthodox translation used in English-speaking parishes.
1. Opening Prayers
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of Thy most pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.
Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.
O Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, who art everywhere present and fillest all things, Treasury of good things and Giver of life: come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from every stain, and save, O Good One, our souls.

2. Psalm 50 (51) — Abridged
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy, and according to the multitude of Thy compassions, blot out my transgression. Against Thee only have I sinned, O Lord; create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Thy presence, and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
3. Prayer at the Start of the Day
O Lord my God, Thou hast granted me this night without sin and sleep. Grant me strength to pass this day according to Thy will: that I may please Thee, flee from evil, and commit no sin against Thee in deed, word, or thought. Keep me from temptation. Amen.
4. Prayer of Saint Macarius the Great
O God, cleanse me a sinner, for I have never done anything good before Thee. Deliver me from evil, and let Thy will be done in me, that I may open my unworthy mouth without condemnation and praise Thy holy name, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
